ST. PAUL, Minn. — Democratic state senators called on COVID-infected Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka to resign. The minority leader, Susan Kent, D-Woodbury, said Gazelka failed to notify colleagues in timely fashion about a potential COVID outbreak. Gazelka announced November 9, while vacationing in Florida, that he had tested positive. That was several days after GOP gatherings that apparently had led to virus outbreaks. The gatherings, mostly maskless, included a celebration banquet November 5; a Senate GOP caucus the same day; and a special session of the Senate with both political parties.
