LACROSSE, Wis. – A LaCrosse man didn’t want to wear a mask. And, wow, howdid he show them. Now he’s in jail. What’s the whole story? Police pieced this sequence together for a criminal complaint: Keith L. Thames, 30, went to the Mileage gas station at 603 Cass Street without a legally required face covering. When a clerk asked Thames to wear a mask, he turned angry and swung items off the shelves. As Thames exited, the clerk said he would call the police. Thames came back and began pushing the clerk around. He knocked the phone out of clerk’s hand when he went to call 911. Thames hit the employee 15 to 20 times, then fled on foot. Now a judge has signed an arrest warrant. The charges: Intimidation, bail-jumping, battery, disorderly conduct.
