WINONA, Minn. – State Representative Gene Pelowski, D-Winona, said it’s an uphill battle in the Legislature for Governor Tim Walz’ proposal to mandate masking. The proposal would link state law with the flexibility inherent in the governor’s executive orders. One issue is how the orders and the law would sunset, particularly if the virus recedes rapidly with accelerated vaccinations, Pelowski said in a radio KWNO interview. “We’re taking public testimony,” Pelowski said. Republicans in both House and Senate seem lined up against the Walz proposal, he said.
