BLUE EARTH, Minn. – Only 14 weeks after he was found cancer-free, Congressman Jim Hagedorn’s kidney cancer has returned at Stage 4. Hagedorn, 58, who represents southern Minnesota from border to border, confirmed the new diagnosis from Mayo Clinic. Although Stage 4 is severest on a five-point scale, Hagedorn said he was not discouraged. He vowed to continue to serve “with the highest level of energy and enthusiasm.” He quoted his Mayo doctors that a new FDA-approved treatment is being introduced. Hagedorn, a Republican with a long history in right-wing Washington circles and a Trump devotee, won a second term in 2020. He is the son of Congressman Tom Hagedorn, now 88, who was in Congress from southern Minnesota from 1973 to 1985.
