ST. PAUL, Minn. – Responding to the state’s first student Covid death of the year, the Minnesota teachers union called on local school districts to do more to protect students and staff. Denise Specht, president of Education Minnesota, noted that five school staff members and one student have died this year. “And it’s only October,” she said. Some school districts, Spechy said, are ignoring federal and state guidelines for masking, social distancing, quarantining and vaccinating. Specht also asked parents have their teens vaccinated.
