WINONA, Minn. – After a year of enrollment stability, Southeast Tech is losing students at the Winona campus. The college projects there will 542 students at the end of fall semester – off 37 from last fall’s 579. Despite the loss, the dean of students, Joshia Litant, sees the decline as an anomaly. Last year, he noted, there was an enrollment uptick, albeit slight. What happened this fall? “Covid has really upended our enrollment patterns,” Litant told the Winona Post. Students wanting to take a break may have been a factor, he said. Tech is poised for growth, he said, noting:
> A new nursing program.
> Plans for a social work program next year.
> Outreach initiatives for adult learners.
> Busy recruiting this fall for next spring and fall.
“We’re seeing more hope and more intent to move forward with more confidence,” he said.
