OWATONNA Minn. – An Owatonna man who stabbed another man to death after a brass-knucke attack in a city park was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Hassan Nur Hassan, 31, had expected less in a plea deal. But Judge Joseph Bueltel would have none of it. In the plea deal, Hassan admitted to unintentional second-degree murder and second-degree assault if other charges would be dropped. The deal was 15 years behind bars. In an unusual move, Judge Bueltel exceeded state sentencing guidelines and said 201 months – the better part of 17 years.
