RED WING, Minn. – Bail was set at $1.5 million for a Red Wing woman accused of leaving her newborn baby to die on the banks of the Lake Pepin in 2003. Jennifer Matter, 50, sobbed at the bond hearing, which was conducted inline by Judge Douglas Bayley. Matter also is accused in the death of a second child, whose body was found in the Mississippi River in 1999. Those charges are yet to be fled with the court.
