ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Republicans who opposed Minnesota’s seven-day extension for counting absentee ballots beyond Election Day won their case before the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The ruling: Ballots must be received by county election offices by November 3. Democratic Secretary of State Steve Simon had argued, unsuccessfully, that the Republican appeal was too close to Election Day to make changes without causing voter confusion. The Circuit Court decision was consistent with the U.S. Supreme Court’s refused to reinstate an extension in Wisconsin.
