NEW LISBON, Wis. — Investigators continued seeking clues, online and elsewhere, on why Douglas Uhde had a list of 13 apparently unconnected people on a hit list when he assassinated Judge John Roemer. Uhle is no help with answers. He was shot himself fatally Friday in Judge Roemer’s house. With Riemer it was apparently a grudge. The judge had put Uhde in prison in 2005. With former orison guard Dan Marcon, there apparently also was a grudge for a prison incident that Marcon recalls onlv vaguely. But why U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whom it’s unlikely Uhde ever met? And why U.S. Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell? Politically Pelosi, a Democrat, and McConnell, a Republican, are about as far apart as you’ll find in Congress. And why Wisconsin Governor Tiny Evers, although it’s possible that Uhde felt the governor could have commuted his prison sentence. It is known that after prison, Uhde was in Kentucky, and McConnell represents the state in the Senate. Even so, did they ever meet? Unlikely. Are there links with the underground Michigan group the Wolverine Watchmen that that plotted to kill Governor Whitmer?
