LANSING, Mich. – Avian flu has been confirmed in three baby red foxes in separate southeast Michigan counties. The cases are the first confirmation of HPAI virus in wild mammals in the state. State wildlife veterinarian Megan Moriarty said it’s doubtful that species-jumping is common but, obviously, occurring is occasionally. Among wild bird, the disease is epidemic. It has been found been found in 30 states.
