WABASHA, Minn. – A Redwood Falls motorcyclist was injured fatally in a head-on crash on the causeway across the Mississippi River. Douglas Hildebrandt, 67, was rushed to the Wabasha hospital, where he died. Afellow biker, who was almost caught in the impact, witnessed what was happening in horror. The friend swerved and avoided the crash. He was not hurt. The accident was on the Wisconsin side of the interstate bridge at Wabasha. The bikers were westbound heading up the ramp to the bridge into Wabasha. Police said the car, driven by Jacqueline Britt, 55, of Alma, had just crossed the bridge eastbound from Wabasha. She was taken to the Wabasha hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Traffic over the river was blocked four hours.
