LACROSSE, Wis. – Amid budget shortfalls, Viterbo University has eliminated nine faculty and four staff positions. Rick Trietley, the university president, called the decision “a modest reduction in personnel.” So far this fiscal year Viberbo has trimmed its budget 35% and expects further reductions in the coming fiscal year. Despite the cuts, Trietley said that Viterbo remains “a key community partner in health care, business, the arts, education, and other fields.” Enrollment at the historically Catholic college has slipped to 1,400 undergrads and 900 graduate students.
