LACROSSE, Wis. – An attorney for suburban Campbell citizens whose wells have been contaminated has doubts whether the courts would recognize the City of LaCrosse as an aggrieved party in the chemical contamination, Asked about new LaCrosse initiatives against chemical manufacturers, Tim Jacobson said: “I am unaware of any mechanism through which the city could have legal standing to assert claims against chemical companies in a way that would provide any direct benefit to citizens of another municipality.” Further, said Jacobson, there are no assurances that LaCrosse, should it succeed would share damages with the Campbell people whose wells are unusable.
