RUSHFORD, Minn. – The police officer who fired a weapon in a rural confrontation last week has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation Such is standard with officer-involved shootings. The officer, Darren Daveau, has eight years of police experience, said the state agency that is conducts such incidents. Daveau discharged his service weapon twice while he was dealing with a man accused of violating a restraining order. No one was injured. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirmed that a rifle was recovered at the scene of the shooting, on Airport Road west of Rushford. The agency also has a dashcam recording from Daveau’s patrol car. The state agency will submit its findings to the Fillmore County attorney when they’re complete.
