WINONA, Minn. – An uptick in CoVid cases in Winona has prompted the county Health Department to resume vaccination clinics. Melanie Frazier, public health supervisor, said vaccinations will be available Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. 6 p.m. at Winona Health’s  Parkview office building at 855 Mankato Avenue. Why the uptick? Nothing alarming. Frazier said: “That’s expected with any virus.” Among available vaccines is the new Pfizer booster shot for children between 5 and 11, Frazier said.

Frazier on booster shots for children: “It’s recommended at least five months after the primary series. The reason for that, just like we’ve seen with the other populations, the vaccine’s efficacy or effectiveness starts to wain after a while.”
