WINONA, Minn. – A gift to save the Winona Health kidney dialysis program from being shut down totaled $3 million. The hospital’s executive officer, Rachelle Schultz, confirmed the sum and said the gift was from multiple anonymous donors. The dialysis unit had been losing $1 million a year, which Schultz said was unsustainable. The gift is in $1 million increments over three years. “Our goal is to continue to look for ways to restructure, reduce costs, and improve our operations to reduce the loss to a level that we can support to keep the unit operational,” Schultz said.
