WINONA, Minn.– A Winona woman was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon. The weapon? A nail-embedded stick. Police said they were called to the 500 residential block of East Fifth Street, just beyond the Mankato Avenue Pig Line, for a fight of some sort about 4:20 p.m. They found a person with a puncture wound and scratches. They were told that Irene Renee Burns had struck the person with the stick. They seized the stick. They also arrested Burns, age 30. Besides facing a charge pending of assault with a dangerous weapon, Burns faces a charge of  possession of a controlled substance, as well as a charge of domestic assault. Cops said they found .6 grams of cocaine. Had had your tetanus vaccination? You never know.
