MINNEAPOLIS – Lawyer William Mohrman filed papers with a Minneapolis court that he will represent ex-cop Derek Chauvin in appealing his murder conviction for killing George Floyd. Earlier the state Supreme Court denied Chauvin’s request for a public defender. Chauvin claimed he couldn’t afford to hire a lawyer. His financial arrangement with Mohrman wasn’t clear. The Minneapolis police union covered Chauvin’s original multi-million dollar trial defense but dropped its support when Chauvin was convicted.
