WOODBURY, Minn. – The Democratic minority leader in the State Senate repeated her call for Republics Paul Gazelka to resign his Senate leadership. Susan Kent, D-Woodbury, said Gazelka, who is Senate majority leader, had “engaged in high-risk behaviors” by notifying only fellow Republicans about a coronavirus outbreak in GOP ranks. The information, Kent said, wasn’t shared with Senate DFLers or nonpartisan staff. She was firm, saying Gazelka mishandled the risk, which she noted was consistent with Republican strategy to downplay the seriousness of the virus statewide. Gazelka had, she said, “misled Minnesotans about their actions and they have made excuses instead of being accountable.”
