BLUE EARTH, Minn. – State Republican chair Jennifer Carnahan said Twitter and other social media companies have been irresponsible to shut down President Trump’s access. The companies dropped Trump accounts for using them to post false information that inspired attacks on the U.S. Capitol Wednesday. There will be consequences for Twitter, Carnahan said. She didn’t elaborate. Twitter’s Trump ban is life-long. Carnahan said most Americans agree that tech companies have too much control over information. She didn’t cite data to support what sounded to be a claim based on polling. Carnahan said she would have less a problem if Twitter had continued deleting specific Trump tweets that went against its rules, but, she said, banning the president was not the right answer.
