WABASHA, Minn. – A rural Zumbro Falls man was arraigned on a first-degree murder grand jury indictment for the hammer-death of his father. James Riley, 45, was ordered held still in lieu of $250,000 bond. Riley originally was charged with second-degree murder, but the grand jury was convinced of premeditation and upped the charge. A first-degree murder conviction carries aa life sentence. When arrested, Riley said he begrudged his father for excluding him as an heir to the family farm.
