WASHINGTON – One of the mailers that has landed Congressman Jim Hagedorn in an ethics calumny involved the Le Sueur-based Cambria cabinet manufacturer. In a message to senior staff before the scandal came to light, Hagedorn indicated he wanted to capitalize on protecting Cambria from foreign competition. “We should send an updated mail piece on Cambria,” Hagedorn wrote on September 5. “Our successful bipartisan efforts to punish China for illegal dumping of quartz products and stealing intellectual property.” A point to make, Hagedorn said, was that 1,000 good-paying jobs in southern Minnesota. At another point Hagedorn has bene quoted as saying the mailer needed to go “every damn household down there.” Hagedorn, a first-term Republican member of Congress, is being challenged by Democrat Dan Feehan. Hagedorn beat Feehan by 1,311 votes in 2028.
