MADISON, Wis. – State criminal investigators are checking how Douglas Uhde came into possession of the gun with which he assassinated Judge John Roemer in New Lisbon last week. State law forbids the sale of a firearms to a convicted felon. Gun dealers are required to run background checks on their customers.
