ROCHESTER, Minn. – A 73-year-old woman fought off an intruder in her apartment and chased him down the street. Police said the woman gave this account: The man entered her apartment about 1:30 p.m. The man, armed with a knife, demanded money and her phone. She told the man she didn’t have any money. He pushed her to the floor and began punching her in the head. Then he grabbed her phone and fled. Although injured, the woman chased the intruder a few blocks until he threw the phone at her. This was about 1:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Homestead Village Lane Southeast. A witness who saw the woman on the sidewalk called 911. Police said the woman suffered facial injuries and a possible concussion. The assailant, the woman said, was black in his 20s.
