WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin pronounced mouthwash as a cure for Covid in his latest attempt to undermine the efficacy of vaccines. It’s whacky, said medical experts. Although mouthwash can kill viruses, the Covid virus almost always enters the nose – not the mouth. Where did Johnson pick up on this screwball idea? On the web somewhere, he said. There have been three scientific studies in medical journals on mouthwash and Covid, none of which conclude it’s a dead-end as a  barrier against dreaded Covid infections. It’s obvious that Johnson didn’t read the scientific journals — or maybe just didn’t understand them. After Johnson voiced his mouthwash claim in a virtual townhall, the manufacturer of Listerine issued a statement:  Use the product only as directed and for purposes as stated on the packaging.
