PINE ISLAND, Minn. – Firefighters rescued a dog that fell through the ice on Lake Zumbro. The dog was barking and unable to pull itself out of the water about 50 yards offshore. Firefighters in wetsuits brought the dog back to shore, where it was dried off and kept in the fire truck until staff from the Camp Companion animal rescue shelter arrived. The dog, a youngish black lab, had a collar but no tags. The rescue was about 12:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Shorewood Lane Northeast.
