ROCHESTER, Minn. – Unvaccinated Mayo employees have been granted one more month to get vaccinated. There had a been an ultimatum to vaccinate by Friday or be placed on unpaid leave. A spokesperson, Kelley Luckstein, said 93% of employees have received at least one vaccination. How many others have medical or religious exceptions has not been disclosed. The rest now will receive a final written warning this Friday, Luckstein said. Apparently the unvaccinated staff will be face dismissal on January 3, which has been the deadline for those who would have been placed on unpaid leave this Friday. Luckstein said that the decision to back off from this Friday’s deadline was “to avoid placing additional stress on vaccinated staff.” Like other healthcare facilities, Mayo facing staff shortages.
