ROCHESTER, Minn. – Not just any ol’mask will do at Mayo anymore. Nor a bandanna. Nor a neck gaiter. Nor even store-bought cloth masks. Mayo Clinic announced that everyone at its facilities system-wide now must wear medical-grade masks. This applies not only to staff but also to patients and visitors. More layers of protection against Covid are needed especially now that the easily transmissible Omicron mutation has taken over, said Mayo infectious disease exert John O’Horo. Highly protective N-95, KN-95 and surgical masks will be provided during screening for entry, he said.
