ROCHESTER, Min. – A former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Julie Louise Gerberding, has been elected to the Mayo Clinic board of trustees. Gerberding was the CDC director from 2002 to 2009. Previously she was chief patient officer at the Big Pharma company Merck.  Also elected to 31-member Mayo board was Martine Rothblatt, who is chief executive at United Therapeutics.
