ALMA, Wis. – A Nelson man who called 911 and reported that he had shot and killed his wife was charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Charged in Buffalo County court was Jonathan P. Medeiros, 38. Arriving at the house at South 1002 Highway 25, police found Jolene R. Medeiros unresponsive on a bed and pooled in blood and not breathing. Paramedics found significant trauma to her lower face and an exit wound on the back her head. The criminal complaint was gory, quoting Deputy Jake Laehn that a hole in the wall contained hair and blood. Laehn said the hole was consistent with the projectile and the size and shape of a 12-gauge slug. A 12-gauge shotgun was on the floor with a shell still in the chamber, Laehn said. Jonathan Medeiros was at the place and arrested. Medeiros affirmed, as he had in the 911 call, that he had shot his wife, Laehn said.
