ST.PAUL, Minn. – Governors of Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and Wisconsin have asked for federal grants for research into hydrogen production for fuel cells. So-called “clean energy production” would produce water as a byproduct instead of mining. The governors said that clean hydrogen production could help decarbonize transportation, agriculture and manufacturing. The U.S. Department of Energy has $7 billion through the Biden Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to create regional clean hydrogen hubs.
