WINONA, Minn. – State Representative Gene Pelowski D-Winona, said he’s aware of a 180-degree turn of public opinion on legalizing recreational marijuana and that he may – may – be on board. “I’m more open to it than I’ve been in the past,” Pelowski said in a radio station KWNO intervew. About a legalization bill moving through the Legislature, Pelowski needs to see what the final bill looks like. Pelowski expressed concern about costs and procedures for regulation. Also, he acknowledged opposition from police about people driving high and frm employers about people coming into work high. The legalization bill has cleared its second House committee. Pelowski said he expects the bill to pass the House but flounder in the Senate. Governor Tim Walz has indicated he would sign a legalization bill.
