Projection: WSU enrollment slump to stabilize

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Winona State University will continue to lose students the next two years but at a much slower pace than recently, according to a state college system projection to the Legislature. This fall’s enrollment by the state system’s data, 5,670, will drop 1.2% to 5,580 next fall, and then even less, by a statistically insignificant minus 0.03%, the year after. These projections suggest that Winona State’s enrollment decline — one-third from a 2013 high of more than 8,500 –may be leveling off.
