MADISON, Wis. – Police blocked traffic from a section of Capitol Square in anticipation of an armed protest by supporters of President Donald Trump, but the protest didn’t materialize. Governor Tony Evers, acting on FBI recommendations, had ordered the security to head off a state-level continuation of the pro-Trump violence in Washington January 6. Armored vehicles were parked outside the state Capitol. Armed soldiers used the roof of the Park Hotel as an observation post.
