WINONA, Minn. –Danny Pomeroy, 72, of Winona, who narrated Winona’s annual “Voices of the Past” cemetery walk. died of cancer. He was a frequent volunteer: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Juvenile Restorative Justice, Elder Network, Meals on Wheels, SEMCAC, Winona County Veterans, and Salvation Army. He held a 1981 business degree from Winona State University. He spent most of his career in Chicago, selling medical equipment, then vaccines. He had been drafted in 1967 and was an infantry paratrooper in Vietnam. In the mid-1990s post-traumatic syndrome ravaged and nearly consumed him. His family said he never lost “his sense of humor or all of his marbles.”
