STURGIS, Mich. – Abbott Laboratories recalled lots of its Similac PM 60/40 powdered baby formula after four babies were hospitalized for a bacterial infection. One nfant died. Abbott said it is scouring its Sturgis factory but hasn’t found evidence of the bacteria in product areas. Even so, the company recalled the product. Earlier these Abbott products were recalled also: Alimentum, EleCare and other Similac powder formulas. No liquid Abbott products were recalled, nor have been products from other Abbott factories.
