WINONA, Minn. – Frederick W. Foss, of Winona, who taught chemistry 41 years at Winona State University, 26 as department chair, died at age 90. He taught 13 dfferenty courses to an estimated 17,000 students. He was a member of the Winona State Faculty Senate for 25 years. He held a degree from the University of Michigan, and advanced degrees from the University of Minnesota and University of the Pacific. He served on the Winona Recreation Waterways Commission, and the Winona Human Rights Commission. He was a member of the Kiwanis and Sons of Norway. He was leader of the Winona Unitarian Fellowship for many years and officiated wedding ceremonies. He was a long-time member of the Junto Club of Winona. He was a founding member of the Bluff Country Co-op. He was politically active served as a DFL convention delegate.
