RUSHFORD, Minn. – John R. “Doc Pete,” 90, for 62 years a physician in Rushford, died at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home five years after suffering a debilitating stroke. He also was farmer, sports enthusiast, school board member, golf partner, and community supporter. He was raised on a cattle ranch in Montana. He completed preparation at University of Montana in three years for admission to the University of Oregon Medical School. He was a U.S. Air Force flight surgeon for two years. He started at the Rushford Community Clinic in 1959.
