WINONA, Minn. — A retired vice president of First National Bank in Winona, Neil Krohn Sawyer, died in retirement in California. He was 102. He was a bank officer from 1955 until he retired in 1983. He started college at Hamline and earned a psychology master’s from Winona State after retiring. In retirement he worked in his wife Ann’s counseling practice. In World War II he served as a lieutenant commander on the battleship Boise in the South Pacific. His intellectual interests ran deep, and in Winona he belonged to the Junto Club. He also was an artist who drew, painted and sculpted. He liked to visit museums and collected of art objects.
