WINONA, Minn. – Fallen police officers were honored in a ceremony sponsored by the Minnesota Law Enforcement Memorial Association. Mayor Scott Sherman read a proclamation. Sheriff Ron Ganrude emceed. Honored were:
> Trooper Ted Foss. who was struck by a passing vehicle in a 2000 traffic stop on the shoulder of Interstate 90.
> Officer Matthew Hamilton, who suffered a fatal heart attack in 1874 shortly after being assaulted and choked by a vagrant at the train depot.
> Investigator John Schnieder, who was shot and killed in 1980 while responding to a domestic disturbance at a Goodview trailer court.
