WINONA, Minn. – Things will get worse before they get better. Drivers can expect significant traffic delays this week before the major roundabout at the Highways 61 and 43 intersection is functioning in place. The good news: State Transportation Department spokesperson Mike Dougherty said construction crews plan to open the roundabout at the end of the week. In the meantime:

> Single lane traffic will be required on Highway 61 leading up to Highway 43.

>Expect short, mid-day traffic stoppages for crews to install overhead signage.

> East Lake Boulevard will open, connecting with Sugar Loaf Road and Highway 43.

> Crews will still be be building a temporary ramp on the southbound Mankato Avenue to connect with the roundabout.

> Expect some lane closures through Saturday on Highway 61 to connect with the roundabout paving.

Earlier: Rotary status: Light at end of tunnel

Finishing touches. Paving is mostly in place at the rotary intersection.
