MADISON Wis.— Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wisconsin, said there’s no need to keep pushing for everybody to be inoculated against Covid. “What do you care if your neighbor has one or not?” Johnson said in a confusing radio interview. He said he himself had Covid last fall, suggesting he somehow was immune. Johnson e sees “no reason to be pushing vaccines on people.” Then he said: “Yes, you should be vaccinated regardless of whether you already had COVID-19. That’s because experts do not yet know how long you are protected from getting sick again after recovering from COVID-19. Even if you have already recovered from COVID-19, it is possible—although rare—that you could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 again.” Johnson, who made his fortune un plastics in Oshkosh, has no medical expertise or background. The interview was on conservative Vicki McKenna’s talk show, which is friendly to Johnson and one of his frequent stops on his Wisconsin visits. The show plays in Madison and Milwaukee.
