TOMAH, Wis. – A kitchen fire destroyed a unit in a Tomah triplex and damaged two others about 1 a.m. When firefighters arrived at 417 Kilbourn Avenue, flames were shooting through the front door of the downstairs unit. The occupant was able to escape without any injury. Police forced their way into the other two units to get everyone out safe. It took 2-1/2 hours to control the fire. The occupant of the downstairs unit said he fell asleep while cooking.
