MINNEAPOLIS – A Plymouth man, Jay D. Low, 57, will spend six years in prison for swindling a neighbor woman out of her life savings – a quarter million dollars. A federal judge ordered Low to pay restitution. Most of the money, Low admitted, had been spent. He bought a BMW automobile, paid tuition for a family member, and bought a $10,000 hot tub and lots of jewelry. He had scammed the woman by promising to invest in a bogus pharmaceutical company. The prosecutor said the scam occurred while Low was on pretrial release for an unrelated $400,000 embezzlement scheme.
