WINONA, Minn. – Carpentry and other trades students at Minnesota State College began a fourth year of working with Habitat for Humanity to construct a house. It’s House No. 52 in Winona. Construction Tech students poured concrete in April. Now walls are up. Instructor Jon Powell said students love being on-site and hands-on. “In the partnership with Habitat, we get to do a project and serve the community at the same time,” he said. Habitat’s John Corcoran, director of operations, said this partnership wjth the college allows Habitat to double its building capacity. The plan is to expand to a rural home a year, he said.
