Victim to hospital emergency room
ST. CHARLES, Minn. — A grandstand spectator was struck by a tire that flew off a vehicle at the Winona County Fair trailer races. An ambulance took the victim to a hospital. Few details were available. Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude said that his deputies were not summoned to the accident and that his information was second hand. It was known that the accident was about 7 p.m. at the west end of the oval dirt track. A trailer hit a retaining wall. A tire flew off and went into the crowd. The event always draws a crowd as a finale at the Fair. The event is the spirit of demolition derbies but vehicles are junker pickups. The event began at 5 p.m. Tickets were $8 to $16 and pit access for $25.
