MADISON, Wis. – A first round of volunteers from the 115th Fighter Wing at Truax Field are deploying to other bases to train for next-generation F35a fighters. The F35s will replace the 115th’s F16s. The 16 airmen and six pi;ots for off-based training will be in Alaska, Florida, Nevada, Utah and Vermont. “This project has taken more than 10 years of consistent work that the Wing has done to get to this point,” Colonel Bart Van Roo, the 115th’s commander, told the volunteers. “You’re the group that is going to take us long into the F-35.”
