ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz called another special session of the Minnesota Legislature to tackle police reform and other issues unsettled in a special session in June. “Obviously we cannot walk away without doing some police reforms in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder,” Walz said. The new session would begin Monday. In the first special session Republicans balked at Democratic plans, supported by Walz a Democrat, to restructure policing. Other issues that need attention, Walz said, include authorizing borrowing for state construction projects that would help the economy. There also needs to be action for child-care assistance, Walz said.
