WAUKESHA, Wis. – Police said the driver in the Waukesha parade tragedy had been in a domestic disturbance just before what happened. The incident may have involved a knife, police said. Brooks was fleeing the scene in his red SUV when he smashed through barricades on the parade route, police said. Officers tried to stop him, shouting and pounding on his fenders. He continued through and into the crowd. Police said one officer chased the vehicle on foot fired three shots at the suspect but had to stop for fear of wounding parade marchers and spectators.
